Parkinson's brain pacemaker. Coloured X-rays of sections through the head of a 61-year-old patient with Parkinson's disease (PD), showing the electrodes (light lines) of a deep brain stimulator (DBS) implanted in the brain. This 'brain pacemaker' sends electrical impulses to electrodes implanted in the brain in order to treat the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
